ESG Governance

In July 2021, Samsung Heavy Industries established ESG committee under the Board of Director and established ESG vision and strategy. It serves as the highest decision-making organization that determines Samsung Heavy Industires' sustainability management activities and deliberates ESG disclosures.
In addition, the ESG governance system was further strengthened by establishing ESG improvement activities in a virtuous cycle with ESG Advisory Committee, ESG C-level Council, Chief ESG Officer and ESG Conduct Body.

The ESG Committee consisting of all independent directors is the top ESG organization that reviews ESG performance and approves siginificant ESG issues.

ESG C-level Council

It is composed of Samsung Heavy Industries' executives, discussing ESG agendas and submitting the agenda to the ESG committee to make the best decision.

Internal Chief ESG Officer

In April 2024, SHI introduced the internal chief ESG officer system. SHI is striving to strengthen ESG management by appointing the CFO as the internal chief ESG officer who plays the role of coordinating and overseeing in-house ESG activities.
The main roles include: checking current issues related to ESG management and establishing company-wide countermeasures, checking ESG tasks/activities and managing performance, and conducting in-house ESG decision-making and reporting to BoD.

ESG Strategy Group

As ESG control tower within the company, it develops ESG strategies & targets and set up improvement plans.

It consists of working-level experts from each division and derive & specify improvement tasks so that the relevant departments can participate in.
