Samsung Heavy Industries held board of director meeting on Oct. 27 and decided to introduce a ''senior outside director'' system.

The senior outside director system is a system that enables appropriate balance and check by selecting a senior outside director representing an outside director if the chairman of the board of directors is not an outside director.

Senior outside director can convene meetings attended only by outside directors, support communication between the chairman of the board of directors & management and outside directors and play a role in supporting the efficient performance of outside directors.

Samsung Heavy Industries plans to strengthen the governance system by enhancing the independence and transparency of the board of directors through the senior outside director system.
