On December 15th, Samsung Heavy Industries signed a contract with HSG Sungdong Shipbuilding, a mid-sized domestic shipbuilder, at its Geoje Shipyard to build two Suezmax-class crude oil carriers. This significant agreement allows HSG Sungdong Shipbuilding to expand into a new area of cable building through Samsung Heavy Industries, while also securing a stable source of work. This partnership is attracting attention as a model for shared growth that will strengthen the domestic small and medium-sized shipbuilding ecosystem and is expected to contribute to increased employment and revitalization of the local economy in the Gyeongnam region.
