Samsung Heavy Industries conducted a post-environmental impact assessment to investigate the distribution of ecosystem-disrupting organisms (plants) in the Jukdo National Industrial Complex and surrounding areas and carried out removal work. As a result of the field survey conducted with Wonjeong E&C from November 17th to 18th, a total of three species, including Korean ginseng, prickly lettuce, and Korean ginseng, were identified, and physical control work was carried out from November 18th to 20th. Korean ginseng, an ecosystem-disrupting organism, climbs around other plants or tree trunks, blocking sunlight and causing them to die. It also releases large amounts of pollen, which can cause allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and asthma in the fall, and has a negative impact on the human body. In addition, Korean ginseng and Korean ginseng form single colonies, which causes the decline of surrounding native plants and reduces biodiversity. A Samsung Heavy Industries official said, ``This survey and removal of invasive species was carried out to promote comprehensive and systematic conservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of biological resources near the business site,`` adding, ``We will continue various environmental protection activities and fulfill our corporate social responsibility.``
