- SHI participated “2024 International Offshore Korea Exhibition”.
- SHI signed agreements for global cooperation to develop green ammonia FPSO and optimized solution based on CCS.
Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) participated in the “2024 International Offshore Korea Exhibition”, held at BEXCO in Busan from the 16th to the 18th, and initiated global cooperation on various environmentally friendly products.
The International Offshore Korea Exhibition is Korea’s largest offshore exhibition, held biennially since 2012, featuring more than 170 companies from 16 countries as participants this year.
On the 16th, the first day of the event, SHI made a significant impact as it signed an agreement with the UK classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR) to develop the concept of a green ammonia FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading facility) and an agreement with the French classification society Bureau Veritas (BV) to develop an optimal solution utilizing CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) technology.
SHI also endeavored to promote its “Floating Blue Ammonia Production Facility”, which was awarded by the U.S. classification society ABS last month.
Green ammonia refers to ammonia produced without carbon emissions, using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power generation, and blue ammonia is produced with significantly reduced carbon emissions using carbon capture technology during the production process.
SHI set up its booth at the center to conduct engaging marketing activities, such as showcasing its self-developed “LNG Liquefaction Process Module SENSE” in a 3D hologram format and introducing an offshore wind model applying new construction methods based on production automation.
“By bolstering its global cooperation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, SHI will concentrate on research and development not only in the production and utilization of environmentally friendly energy but also in implementing optimal offshore solutions,” stated Hae-ki Jang, Chief Technology Officer (VP) of SHI.
