SHI held its Technology Road Show in Europe for the second year and introduced new green and digital shipbuilding and offshore technologies.
On the 15th (local time), SHI launched ‘2024 Samsung Technical Seminar in Athens’ at the InterContinental Athenaeum Athens Hotel in Greece, and unveiled its new products and AI-based digital ship technologies needed for achieving Net Zero.
SHI impressed participants of around 30 groups and 60 people including major shipowners, classification groups, and partners, with its futuristic LNG carrier, ammonia fuel-cell carrier, LCO2 carrier, and many other new eco-friendly products. LNG carrier boasts its efficient operation as it is equipped with the Saver Wind technology and Wind Assisted Propulsion System(WAPS) developed independently by SHI and has the steering house at the ship’s bow. At the same time, SHI added a clean-fuel system, making it more environmentally friendly.
SHI drew a great deal of interest at the event as it introduced △new 180K㎥, 200K㎥ 3 Cargo Tank LNG Carrier, △a roadmap for the ammonia carrier equipped with ammonia fuel-cell, and △Green LCO2 carrier with Onboard Carbon Capture System (OCCS) located at the ship’s bow for the first time ever and gathered a lot of interest at the event.
SHI’s ‘Smart Vessel Total Solution (SVESSL 2.0)’ that provides information such as optimized routes and speed in real-time by utilizing AI’s deep learning · big data analysis technology and digital twin technology and Digital Twin-Ship Lifecycle Management (DT-SLM) that provides functions including key maritime equipment’s performance management and predictive maintenance have received positive responses as well.
Meanwhile, the Korean Register (KR) and environmental equipment provider PANASIA jointly participated the event and shared insights such as a direction of response to changes in environmental regulations in the maritime sector and development status of OCCS demonstration facility, showing robust partnerships with SHI.
“Through the Technology Road Show in Athens, SHI confirmed the great interest and expectations of clients for SHI’s eco-friendly ships and new digital technologies,” Jang Hae-Gi, head of SHI’s Technology Development Headquarters(Vice President) said. “SHI will continue its effort to develop new innovative products which converge green and digital technologies.”
SHI will continue its marketing activities, such as the Technology Road Show in Athens, in the UK and other European countries until 17th.
