SHI Publishes `Sustainability Report 2025`

    - SHI has released its 15th annual sustainability report, preemptively covering key ESG trends and insights.


    Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) announced on the 25th that it has published `sustainability report 2025` which includes Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management strategies and achievements. 


    SHI`s 15th annual sustainability report preemptively covered key ESG contents including: responding to climate change, developing sustainable product∙technology, ensuring industrial safety∙health, enhancing corporate ethics, promoting DE&I (Diversity, Equality, and Inclusivity), and human rights management.


    Last year, SHI implemented environmental management policies, which include biodiversity protection and a ban on deforestation in the environmental (E) sector. Additionally, in order to analyze the environmental impact throughout the entire life cycle of a ship, an advanced evaluation system based on seven impact categories such as carbon footprints has been established.


    In the social (S) sector, SHI highlighted that it has been recognized as the best institution in three business categories for consecutive years, an achievement that is unprecedented among government-funded HRD business companies. Also, SHI has established conflict minerals management policies that abide by the international community ethical procurement standards.


    The governance (G) sector underlined that SHI has strengthened independence by forming a subcommittee under the board of directors composed solely of outside directors. Moreover, SHI has achieved ISO31000 certification, an international risk management standard, for the first time in the shipbuilding industry.


    “We will grow into a company that stands firm for a hundred years and beyond. We will establish a new business model that commercializes our technologies and capabilities while promoting responsible management in relation to human rights and the environment,” said Sung-an Choi, Chief Executive Officer (Vice Chairman).


    Meanwhile, Samsung Heavy Industries has prepared this report in accordance with the reporting standards set by Global Reporting Initiative Standards (GRI), International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) to transparently disclose the strategies and activities of each business unit.
