    - SHI plans to apply and test `digital solutions for vessels` on H-Line Shipping’s vessels.

    - SHI will accelerate the commercialization of core automation and unmanned technology for vessels based on AI and DT.

Samsung Heavy (SHI) signed a `Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in digital solutions for vessels` with H-Line Shipping, South Korea’s representative shipping company.

SHI and H-Line Shipping made an agreement to actively collaborate on advancing digital system to enhance large sized vessels` operational efficiency and safety and to verify the possibility for the commercialization by adapting the technology on actual vessels.

Under the agreement, SHI will apply `Economic Operation Solutions` and `Vessel Management Solutions` on LNG carriers, which SHI is currently building for H-Line Shipping at Geoje Shipyard.

SHI will also apply `Economic Operation Solution` and `Environmental Regulation Response Solutions` on bulk carriers operating on the Korea-Australia route to quantitatively verify effectiveness of solutions in the actual operational environment.

`Economic Operation Solutions` can remarkably reduce fuel consumption by analyzing the vessel’s operational condition and providing the optimal route and strategy based on AI and deep learning.

The solution is a state-of-the-art intelligent system that can minimize fuel consumption and cargo loss by optimizing Boil Off Gas (BOG) management in cargo holds on LNG carriers.

Also, `Vessel Management Solutions` can maximize vessels` safety by monitoring condition of main equipment and hull in real-time based on digital twin technology.

Lastly, `Environmental Regulation Response Solutions` provide systematically collected and analyzed data needed for vessel energy efficiency verification such as the IMO ship fuel oil consumption system (IMO-DCS) and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII).

Through this cooperation, Samsung Heavy and H-Line shipping will take the initiative in commercializing digital solutions as well as adapting smartship-based automation and unmanned technology to industrial sites.

“Digital Solutions are core technologies that serve as the brain of a ship,” said Hae-ki Jang, Chief Technology Officer (VP) of SHI. “Samsung Heavy will do its utmost to develop customized digital technology through close collaboration with the client.”
