Samsung Heavy (SHI) pledged to become a company that lasts 100 years with sustainable management.
On the 18th, Samsung Heavy`s CEO Sung-an Choi sent a message to the executives and staff, sincerely stating, “Samsung Heavy Industries grew with the dream of a grand future from 50 years ago when no one paid attention to Korea.” He also added, “SHI has written a new history in the shipbuilding and offshore industry.”
“We must lead innovation and gain competitiveness for smart manufacturing as well as soft power to become a company that is not swayed by external disruptions,” said Sung-an Choi, urging SHI`s employees to be the leader of a smart and agile company that translates imagination into reality.
Established in Changwon (1974), Samsung Heavy Industries began as a machinery business and merged its affiliates, Samsung Shipbuilding and Daesung Heavy Industries to establish itself as a comprehensive heavy industry company.
In 1994, SHI laid a foundation to become a mega global shipbuilder by building its third dock. Since the 1997 Asian financial crisis, SHI has gone through restructuring and streamlining of businesses including heavy equipment, power generation and ship engine and reorganized them into the shipbuilding and offshore industry.
SHI invited around 10,000 people including its employees, liners, and Geoje citizens to the `KBS Open Concert`, celebrating the 50th anniversary. The concert was held with great success and broadcasted on the 20th. SHI also introduced its newly refurbished website.
